Tyler Posey Shares Update on a Possible ‘Teen Wolf’ Return and What He Wants to Explore Next

Could Scott McCall return for another chapter of Teen Wolf? Tyler Posey says the possibility remains open, revealing that he already has ideas for continuing the supernatural franchise.

Posey played Scott for all six seasons of MTV’s Teen Wolf before reprising the role in Teen Wolf: The Movie, which premiered on Paramount+ in 2023. In an exclusive conversation with TV Insider about his latest role as an NSA agent in Line of Fire, the actor discussed whether he would be interested in returning to the world of werewolves.

“Always. [There’s] always a possibility,” Posey said. “Yeah, I’m working on — I’ve got ideas. Everyone else is excited for them. We just got to get the network involved.”

Although no new project has been confirmed, Posey’s comments suggest he is open to revisiting Scott’s story if the right opportunity comes along.

Tyler Posey Wants a More Adult ‘Teen Wolf’

If Teen Wolf continues, Posey hopes the next installment will reflect how much its original audience has grown up since the series first premiered.

Rather than simply recreating the experience of the earlier seasons, he wants to explore more mature themes that resonate with longtime fans.

“Just more adult themes,” he explained.

Posey pointed out that many viewers who watched the show as teenagers are now in their 30s, making this an opportunity to tell stories that reflect their current stages of life.

“I think the fans grew up with Teen Wolf and they were teens themselves. This was 15 years ago, so they’ve got to be in their 30s, some of them at least,” he said.

“And so I want to honor that and pay homage to where they’re at now in their lives.”

His vision suggests that a potential continuation could retain the supernatural elements that made the franchise popular while giving its characters and audience a more grown-up perspective.

Where Did ‘Teen Wolf: The Movie’ Leave Scott?

The 2023 film brought Scott back together with several familiar faces while introducing new possibilities for the franchise’s future.

One major development involved Allison Argent, played by Crystal Reed, who was resurrected and eventually regained her memories. Scott and Allison reunited after her return, giving their relationship another chapter.

The movie also featured the sacrifice of Derek Hale, played by Tyler Hoechlin. Following Derek’s death, Scott and Allison took in his son, Eli, portrayed by Vince Mattis.

Eli’s introduction opened the door to a possible new generation of werewolf stories, potentially allowing the franchise to evolve beyond its original central characters.

That direction also aligns with an idea previously discussed by creator Jeff Davis.

Could Eli Lead the Next Chapter?

Tyler Posey delights Teen Wolf fans with new project: ‘There will be more’

When TV Insider spoke with Davis around the film’s release, the creator said the possibility of another movie or series would depend partly on the project’s performance and subscriber numbers.

“If the bottom line looks good enough, then most likely, yeah,” Davis said at the time.

Davis also expressed interest in passing the story to a younger character rather than simply repeating the original formula.

“The movie and the show are called Teen Wolf, so I like the idea of passing the baton,” he explained, praising Mattis’s performance as Eli.

He added that the next iteration would probably be centered on the character.

With Posey now revealing that he has ideas of his own, there are at least creative possibilities for the franchise to explore. However, neither a new movie nor another season has been officially announced in the information shared so far.

For now, fans will have to wait to see whether those ideas develop into a concrete project — and whether Scott McCall will return to lead another chapter of Teen Wolf.
