Released in 2021, the HBO and Sky miniseries follows Susan and Christopher Edwards, a seemingly unremarkable British couple whose lives take a dramatic turn when a police investigation uncovers a horrifying secret buried in their past.

Colman portrays Susan Edwards, a quiet woman with a deep affection for classic Hollywood films, old movie memorabilia and romantic fantasies. Thewlis plays her husband, Christopher, a devoted partner who appears willing to do almost anything to protect her. Together, they live a modest life in France, far removed from the attention of the authorities in England.

Their carefully maintained world begins to unravel when Christopher contacts British police about the deaths of Susan’s elderly parents, William and Patricia Wycherley. The investigation reveals that the couple were murdered in Nottingham in 1998, and their bodies were buried in the garden of their own home.

For 15 years, the crimes remained concealed while Susan and Christopher continued their lives, struggling financially and clinging to the stories they told themselves about their circumstances.

Rather than presenting the case as a conventional police procedural, Landscapers explores the couple’s complicated relationship, their conflicting accounts and the blurred line between fantasy and reality.
