The Gentlemen returned for a second season last month, and fans will be glad to know that a follow-up has already been confirmed. However, it looks like one of the main cast members won’t be a part of it.
Speaking to HATC Magazine, Daniel Ings said that we won’t be seeing him as Freddy Horniman in the future, with the actor noting: “I’m not in the next one. So that’s a fun sense of closure.”
“I kind of see it as closure for the character in a way; it just ends as this wild, broken, crazy, you know. I don’t know, probably mumbling into the ether somewhere in the British countryside.”

Freddy’s chicken scene in the opening episode remains one of the most unforgettable moments of The Gentlemen, and arguably one of the crime drama’s defining scenes.
Following the news that Daniel Ings won’t return for the next season, the publication asked whether he had managed to hold on to the infamous chicken suit. The actor revealed that he was allowed to take it home, but the arrangement didn’t last long.
“I asked for it on my very last day, and they said yes”, he recalled. “I took it home with me, and about a week later, they called and said, ‘Oh my God, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have given you that.'”
Ings joked that losing the costume has left him without an easy Halloween outfit, explaining: “And you know, it means that when it gets to Halloween every year, I’m very resentful because I don’t have a standard costume that I can whip out. But in fairness, it did take up quite a lot of space in the wardrobe.”

Looking back on his experience, Ings spoke warmly about bringing Freddy to life, saying: “It was a lot of fun. Really, it was a great experience. I’ll always be grateful to have played a part in creating that character. I absolutely loved playing Freddy.”
The actor also recalled a conversation with series creator Guy Ritchie at the beginning of season two. Ritchie reportedly told him they had “went too far with the humour” in the first season and asked him to “tone it down”. Ings said he found the challenge of striking the right balance “really interesting to kind of thread that needle”.
The Gentlemen is available to stream on Netflix, with a third season already confirmed.
