NASCAR star and two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch died at the age of 41 after a sudden and severe illness progressed into sepsis, his family has confirmed.
According to a statement released by the Busch family, Kyle passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, after being hospitalized. The medical evaluation determined that he suffered from severe pneumonia that rapidly developed into sepsis, leading to overwhelming complications.
Busch had reportedly passed out the day before at a Chevrolet simulator facility in Concord, North Carolina, while experiencing shortness of breath and other symptoms. He was rushed to the hospital but could not recover from the aggressive infection.
