Family members were seen arriving at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, where Dolly will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Carl Dean. Her nephew and longtime head of security, Bryan Seaver, was also among those present and helped coordinate the family gathering.

The intimate farewell followed Dolly’s reported wish for a small and private service attended only by immediate family. Her representatives had previously indicated that she did not want a large public funeral, allowing her loved ones to say goodbye away from the enormous spotlight that surrounded her career.

The location holds particular emotional significance. Carl Dean, Dolly’s husband of 58 years, died in March 2025, and the couple will now share their final resting place in Nashville.

Dolly’s niece, Lainey Mae Parton, later confirmed that the singer was laid to rest on Friday, August 28, bringing confirmation that the private goodbye had taken place.

Her death followed a brief battle with cancer. According to her family, Dolly was surrounded by loved ones when she died in Nashville on August 25.

As her family mourns privately, tributes from fans and fellow musicians continue to pour in around the world. The gathering at Woodlawn offered a deeply personal final chapter for a woman whose music, generosity and unmistakable personality touched generations.

For Dolly’s loved ones, however, the focus was not on the global superstar but on the wife, aunt, sister and friend they knew away from the stage.
