A new post-apocalyptic thriller has made a huge impact on Prime Video, with Apocalypse Z: New World quickly climbing the streaming charts following its Halloween release.

The Spanish-language film arrived on October 30, 2026, continuing the story established in 2024’s Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End. Directed by Carles Torrens, the sequel expands the fictional world of Manel Loureiro’s bestselling novel series, introducing a new group of survivors struggling to navigate a world devastated by a deadly virus.
This time, the story takes place six months after the original outbreak. The Canary Islands have become one of Europe’s remaining safe havens, but dwindling supplies force a special expedition to travel to the mainland. Among those joining the dangerous mission is Roberto, whose presence creates uncertainty within an already fragile group.
As the survivors venture beyond their refuge, their journey becomes increasingly complicated. They face infected hordes, divided loyalties and difficult decisions that test how far people are willing to go to protect one another.
The sequel features a new central character played by Carlos Alcaide, alongside returning cast members José María Yázpik, Berta Vázquez and the much-loved feline character Lúculo.
Despite receiving a mixed critical response, the film has attracted considerable attention from streaming audiences. According to FlixPatrol figures cited by MovieWeb and ScreenRant, Apocalypse Z: New World climbed to the top of Prime Video’s global movie rankings shortly after its release.
The success also brings renewed attention to the original film, which became an international streaming hit in 2024.
With its expanded story, new characters and larger-scale post-apocalyptic setting, Apocalypse Z: New World is giving the zombie franchise another major moment in the spotlight.
