Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine in Red, White & Royal Blue (Amazon)
The upcoming sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue, titled Red, White & Royal Wedding, has officially received an R rating for “sexual content and nudity” — a detail that has fans anticipating some steamy moments.
Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine are returning as Alex Claremont-Diaz, the bisexual son of the US president, and Prince Henry, the gay British royal. The film’s rating cites “sexual content/nudity and language”, adding to the excitement surrounding the next chapter of their story.
Despite the wedding-themed title sparking speculation that Alex and Henry might be preparing to tie the knot, the actors have revealed that the celebration will instead revolve around Henry’s younger sister, Princess Beatrice.
That hasn’t dampened fans’ enthusiasm. Viewers are already looking forward to seeing what the sequel has in store, particularly after author Casey McQuiston previously teased that some saucy scenes were on the way.

The R rating has already sparked plenty of excitement online, with fans sharing their hopes for the sequel. One user posted on X: “Can’t wait to see He-Man and his boyfriend get it on.” Another commented: “Taylor showing more of that a**.” A third wrote: “TZP better deliver on the full frontal he’s been teasing about for months!” Meanwhile, another fan declared: “Oh I am sat! We are gonna be so fed.”
Not everyone is convinced the rating signals a major increase in steamy content, however. Some fans have pointed out that the original Red, White & Royal Blue also received an R rating, urging others not to get their hopes up too soon.
According to the US film ratings authority, both movies are rated R. However, the descriptions accompanying their ratings differ slightly. The original was rated R for “some sexual content, partial nudity and language”, while the sequel’s rating cites “sexual content and nudity” without the same qualifiers.
That difference has fuelled speculation that the new film could push things further than its predecessor, although the rating alone does not confirm how much viewers will actually see.
In the UK, the first film received a 12 rating from the BBFC for “language, sex, sex references”. The sequel’s UK classification has yet to be announced.

Red, White & Royal Wedding Cast, Story and Release Updates
Fans have been waiting for more details about Red, White & Royal Wedding since the sequel was first confirmed in May 2024. Its official title was eventually revealed in October 2025, but many details about the highly anticipated follow-up remain under wraps.
Unlike the original film, which adapted Casey McQuiston’s bestselling novel of the same name, the sequel has no published follow-up book to draw from. McQuiston has instead been involved in writing the screenplay, with the new story expected to continue exploring the romance between Alex and Henry. The precise plot has yet to be revealed.
Several familiar faces are returning, including Uma Thurman, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Stephen Fry, Clifton Collins Jr, Thomas Flynn, Aneesh Sheth and Malcolm Atobrah. They will be joined by newcomers Henry Ashton, Lena Headey, Chloe Fineman and Alex Høgh Andersen.
Production finally got underway in January 2026, with filming wrapping up by March.
An official release date has not been announced yet. However, with the film now having received its US rating, fans may soon learn more about when they can expect Alex and Henry’s story to return to the screen.
