Prince William commented on Robert Irwin’s ‘python’ (BBC/BONDS)
Robert Irwin found himself visibly embarrassed on The Graham Norton Show after Prince William made a cheeky remark about his “python” while looking at photos from the conservationist’s Bonds underwear campaign.
The 22-year-old Australian conservationist appeared on the BBC chat show alongside the 44-year-old Prince of Wales to discuss William’s environmental initiative, the Earthshot Prize. The awards ceremony is due to take place in Mumbai next month, with £5 million in prize money set to be distributed among the winners.
However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when images from Irwin’s eye-catching Bonds campaign appeared on screen. The conservationist was left confronted with his own underwear modelling pictures, all while sitting beside a future king.
“I can’t believe I’m looking at these with Prince William,” Irwin said, referring to the “proud” LGBTQ+ ally. He then joked: “Australia’s hot, you can’t wear too much!”
When asked whether he had seen the pictures before, William responded with a cheeky comment: “I’m still thinking about your python.”
The remark appeared to leave Irwin completely flustered, with the conservationist turning bright red before burying his face in the sofa.
Robert Irwin’s Bonds Underwear Campaign
Irwin explained that the modelling shoot was about more than simply posing in his underwear, revealing that there was a broader purpose behind the campaign.

“It was an underwear commercial, obviously, but I wanted to kind of create a conservation element to it,” he said. “I believe in bringing the message to an audience that might not ordinarily be in that world. But seriously, what matters to me is the snake in that image, wildlife was showcased.”
The Bonds campaign was filmed in the garden of Irwin’s home at Australia Zoo, with snakes and spiders crawling across the conservationist during the shoot.
Irwin has established himself through his wildlife conservation work and television appearances, continuing the legacy of his late father, Steve Irwin.
His profile in the US grew significantly last year when he took part in and won Dancing With The Stars, following in the footsteps of his older sister Bindi, who had also won the competition years earlier.
Prince William ‘Loves’ Celebrity Traitors
William shared the red sofa with Cate Blanchett, Irwin and Hannah Waddingham, discussing everything from his public engagements to his television preferences.
When asked about The Celebrity Traitors, the Prince of Wales revealed that it had become a favourite in his household.
“I love it, the family love it. Charlotte and Louis are obsessed with it. It’s really good telly,” he said.
