Regardless of public opinion surrounding Morgan Wallen, the country star has consistently spoken openly about the artists he respects within the industry. During a recent conversation on SiriusXM’s Morgan Wallen Radio, Wallen reflected on his longtime appreciation for Luke Bryan.
Bryan previously invited Wallen to join his What Makes You Country Tour in 2018, at a time when Wallen was still early in his career and building momentum in Nashville.
Looking back on that period, Wallen spoke about the friendship they developed following the tour, describing Bryan as “one of the best people I’ve ever met.”
Wallen shared, “I’ve had the pleasure of meeting [Bryan], actually just one of the best people I’ve ever met in general…Somebody who took me out on the road really before I even had a substantial hit…He showed a lot of belief and a lot of faith in me”.
He also noted that beyond performing together over the years, the two have maintained a strong friendship off-stage as well, adding: “I really enjoy hanging out with him.”
Morgan Wallen and Luke Bryan have continued to publicly support one another over the years. In a recent interview, Bryan reflected on hearing some of Wallen’s early music for the first time, particularly “Chasin’ You.”
“The second I heard [Chasin’ You], I knew something was up, I knew where he was coming from to write that,” Bryan said. He added, “If I’d have heard that song first listen, I would have [gone] right to the studio and recorded it – and just frigging loved it”.
Bryan also famously nearly recorded Wallen’s hit “Sand in My Boots” before Wallen eventually released the track himself.
Speaking further about Wallen’s rise, Bryan recalled hearing “Up Down” and immediately recognizing his potential, saying: “When I heard ‘Up Down’, I was like, ‘Hey, get him out’…Just watching him go from having a couple singles to certainly where he’s at now…”
Today, Wallen is in the middle of his Still the Problem Tour, where he is now helping introduce newer artists such as Zach John King and Vincent Mason to larger audiences — similar to the opportunity Bryan once gave him earlier in his own career.
