Ariana Grande’s Brother Frankie Sparks Backlash After Sharing New Photos During Singer’s Difficult Time

Frankie Grande reveals how sister Ariana Grande saved him: 'You're over-steaming'

Frankie Grande, the older brother of pop superstar Ariana Grande, is drawing mixed reactions online after sharing a series of shirtless gym photos on social media.

The posts arrive as Ariana continues to face intense public scrutiny over her appearance, with online discussion surrounding her noticeably slim frame following the release of her latest music video.

The singer is also preparing to step away from the spotlight after completing her “Eternal Sunshine” tour, with her final London show scheduled for September 1.

Ariana Grande’s Brother Called Out Over New Gym Photos

Frankie’s latest post quickly went viral on X, where reactions were sharply divided.

While many fans praised the actor for his fitness and confidence, others criticized the timing, arguing that his sister is currently facing intense public scrutiny over her appearance.

One user wrote, “Go look after your sister rather than seeking attention online.” Another commented, “His sister is going through hell, and he’s posting this?” Others accused Frankie of “thirst trapping” while Ariana continues to receive relentless criticism online.

Some critics also claimed he was trying to capitalize on his famous sibling’s spotlight, though many others defended him, pointing out that he has been promoting his own music, including his recently released album, Hotel Rock Bottom (Deluxe), and praised him for maintaining a healthy lifestyle despite the backlash.

The backlash aimed at Frankie comes as Ariana Grande prepares to step away from the spotlight after wrapping up her “Eternal Sunshine” tour in London on September 1.

According to a representative, the singer plans to take a well-deserved break from public appearances following months on the road.

“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny,” the spokesperson told People. “This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”

As part of that break, Grande will also no longer appear in the upcoming West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George, where she had been expected to reunite with her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey.

The announcement follows renewed online discussion about Grande’s appearance after the release of the music video for “Petal,” which fueled another wave of speculation about her health despite no public confirmation of any medical issue.

The Singer Insists Decision To Step Back Was Not ‘A Reactive Or Impulsive Thing’

Grande later reassured fans that her planned hiatus had nothing to do with the recent online speculation surrounding her appearance.

Speaking during the opening night of her three-show run in Chicago, the 33-year-old addressed the announcement directly from the stage, explaining that it had been carefully planned long before the latest wave of public attention.

“The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing. It is something that I had decided to plan quietly, a long time ago,” she told the audience while reading from prepared notes.

Grande also dismissed suggestions that negative commentary had overshadowed her tour.

“I heard my fans were worried negativity was ruining things for me, but that could not be more the opposite,” she said. “Boundaries need to be set; human beings do need a break sometimes.”

She stressed that the decision came from a place of self-awareness rather than outside pressure, telling fans that their support means far more than public opinion.

“No matter what noises exist out there, nothing will ever be able to distort my reality, or be more real to me than this love that we share,” she added, according to The Guardian.

Public scrutiny over Grande’s appearance is nothing new. The singer has spent years pushing back against unsolicited commentary about her body, both in interviews and through her music.

One of her most direct responses came with her 2024 single “Yes, And?”, which challenged public judgment and called for greater respect for personal boundaries.

Those themes continue on “Petal,” which, according to a source close to Grande, explores the pressures of fame and the complicated relationship between celebrities and the public.

The source described the project as “a fight song, an anthem about the love-hate relationship with the public and their toxicity,” emphasizing that the album is not about a romantic breakup, but about Grande’s experience living under constant public scrutiny.

Despite the ongoing attention surrounding her appearance, those close to the singer insist she remains in excellent condition throughout the “Eternal Sunshine” tour, noting that the demanding production requires considerable stamina and athleticism — something Grande continues to demonstrate with high-energy performances night after night.

Looking back on the experience, Grande described the “Eternal Sunshine” tour as “one of the most healing, beautiful, correct and special experiences” of her life.

The tour launched in June in Oakland, California, before making stops in major cities including Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York. Following her final U.S. performances in Chicago, Grande will head to London for the closing leg of the tour, highlighted by a 10-night residency at the O2 Arena beginning August 15.

The run marks her long-awaited return to the stage after spending several years focused on film and recording projects, including her starring role as Glinda in the two-part Wicked adaptation.

After the tour concludes, Grande will next appear alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in Focker-in-Law, the latest installment of the Meet the Parents franchise, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 25.
