Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has reflected on his final conversation with longtime bandmate Ozzy Osbourne, revealing that the legendary singer admitted he “wasn’t feeling great” shortly before his death.
Speaking about their last exchange, Iommi said Ozzy remained in good spirits despite ongoing health struggles. However, the guitarist recalled that the Prince of Darkness candidly acknowledged he was not feeling well, a comment that has taken on added significance following his passing.
“He said he wasn’t feeling great,” Iommi recalled, adding that while Ozzy had been dealing with a number of health issues in recent years, he had still hoped to recover and continue enjoying time with his family and friends.
The two musicians shared one of rock music’s most enduring partnerships after co-founding Black Sabbath in Birmingham in 1968. Together, they helped pioneer heavy metal with classic albums including Paranoid, Master of Reality, and Vol. 4, influencing generations of artists around the world.
Iommi said Ozzy’s death has left a profound void, describing him as more than a bandmate. “He was a dear friend,” he said, recalling decades of shared memories on and off the stage.
Tributes have continued to pour in from across the music industry, with fellow musicians and fans celebrating Osbourne’s groundbreaking career and lasting influence on rock and heavy metal. Many have remembered him not only for his unmistakable voice and stage presence but also for his humor, resilience, and generosity.
Although Ozzy had faced numerous health challenges in recent years, his death has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans worldwide. Iommi said he will always cherish the memories they created together and the extraordinary legacy they built as members of Black Sabbath.
Ozzy Osbourne is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in rock history, and his impact on the music world is expected to endure for generations.
